A pill has been invented, it's creators refer to it as the dose of ignorance. It works such that it knocks everyone on earth out for a day, at which point the entire population can be transferred to a twin earth with a perfectly equitable society, with all physical needs met. The dose of ignorance has a major secondary effect though, it removes all memories of those infected and replaced them with generic, quasi meaningless memories which every single person drugged with it then possesses (you remember playing as a child, or what you looked like when you were younger, you remember the people you know broadly, though not a lot of specifics).

“Banality of evil” focuses on the individuals having committed atrocities and claims that evil acts are committed by ordinary people as a result of their environment, personal aspirations or other factors as opposed to inherently evil people. “Banality of good” in contrast focuses on individuals who acted to prevent or minimize the harm of atrocities, claiming that atrocities are usually prevented not by uniquely heroic people, but ordinary people, often through minor actions such as refusing to take part in atrocities, sheltering their friends/neighbours etc.
